LaKeta Renée Booker – Freda Edwards (The Diva) is an East Tennessee native who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. LaKeta brings with her a career that encompasses music, theater and film. You may remember her as a season three semi-‐ finalist on the ever-‐famous American Idol, the season that featured Fantasia & Jennifer Hudson. Honing her skill and ability of being versatile, LaKeta has graced the screen in films such as “Things My Daddy Should’ve Told Me”, “The Other Side”, “Dirty South House Arrest” & “Laughing At The Moon”.
With theater being LaKeta’s first love she has become comfortable owning whatever stage or screen she’s on. Most recently in “The Perfect Pastor”, also in the national tour of “In Love With Tyrone” where she starred opposite Robin Givens & Leon with her unforgettable performance as Candy. Other theater credits include “Dreamgirls” (Deena Jones), “Hairspray” (Little Inez & Dynamite) & “Camelot”. She has trained under the tutelage of Marishka Phillips of Susan Batson Studios of New York and Victor Love at EVOLV Studios in Atlanta.
Always evolving, always growing, LaKeta knows she’s only just begun to make her mark in this industry.
Cheezecake Bio – Freda Edward is leaving her third husband. And why not? She vowed to him, “If sickness ever overrides my bank account, this marriage will be null and void”. With her suitcase packed, Freda is ready to leave New Orleans on the midnight train to Georgia. When she finds that Jaxon is a sucker, she uses him to get back to Georgia.
