Kyra Leshea Claxton is a Senior, Spanish Major at Spelman College. She started her dance training at the age of 10 at Academy of the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia under the direction of Susan McGhee-Crawford and David Robinson, where she trained in genres such as ballet, jazz, modern, tap, and hip hop and was a member of Trendsetter’s Dance Company inc. She also attended Dekalb School of the Arts as a dance major and vocal minor. During her Senior Year in high school she trained at Atlanta’s Resource for Entertainment and the Arts as a member of the senior company under the direction of Jai McClendon Jones. She has marched 3 seasons with Morehouse College’s, Mahogany N Motion including her Co-captain season 2015-2016 and this past year as the 2016-2017 Captain. Currently as a brand ambassador of ATLA Connect Cycle III, she is also a pro company member of Dare Dream Dance (3D) under the direction of Cici Kelley and Rae Ransom Coleman. With this training, as she reaches the end of her matriculation at Spelman College she is striving to take her career to the next level as a professional dancer in the commercial industry.
